A copy editor reads a lesson, chapter, or textbook line by line and corrects its grammar, spelling, punctuation, usage, and style. The work produces a corrected file, a style sheet recording every decision made, and queries the author answers. Material arrives from authors, compilers, developmental editors, and subject experts. It returns to the author for those answers, then goes on to the technical editor who prepares the final format. This trade makes the sentences correct, consistent, and clear for a student.
